I have worked as a printmaker in Yorkshire for over twenty years. I began by making prints at an evening class at Leeds College of Art and Design and felt straight away that etching was the technique I liked best. After years of evening classes and using friends' presses I set up a tiny studio in my own house.

With a background in architecture I have always enjoyed observing and recording the structure of inner city Leeds where I live. I am as intrigued by the repetitive patterns formed by roofs, walls and chimney pots as I am by plants, birds and trees. I like the unusual in the midst of the repetitive and everyday; details which amuse, enthrall or just make me look again. I try to avoid sentimentality but concentrate on the quirky and revealing. Using etching and aquatint in combination allows me to play with texture and detail. My prints have recently been described as conveying the "slightly bittersweet twilight feel, that sense of liminality - something that is both ordinary and extra ordinary at the same time. "

My work is exhibited in a wide range of galleries within Yorkshire and beyond. They are stocked by Leeds Craft and Design Gallery; Glasshouse Gallery, Leeds; the Gallery, Masham; the Artparade, Saltaire; March Hare Gallery, Ripon; Bianco Nero Gallery, Stokesley; the Weekend Gallery, Hastings and Rye Gallery,East Sussex. I also sell my work through exhibitions and art fairs. I can usually be found at Leeds Art Fair ( May Bank Holiday) and Skipton Cattle Mart in mid August. In 2010 I am having a solo show at The Gallery, Masham. I am always happy to sell my work through the website and to welcome people to my studio who may wish to buy an etching. The website is also intended as a point of contact for people who may want to commission work. It is a permanent gallery for my prints and hand-made cards, and an interesting set of images for people who may want to know about printmaking.
